According to the report of Daily Star News website, 41-year-old Veronika Mike is a freelance videographer while her 46-year-old husband Zoltan Pinter is 46 years old. Both live in Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire. She told that the area outside her house was full of dirt for years. Often people used to throw garbage on the road instead of big dustbins, due to which rats and cats used to come to that place and foul smell started arising.

The couple cleared the road
She decided that she would clean the place and put all the garbage lying outside the dustbin in a cardboard box so that it could be picked up. She did the same, but forgot to pay attention to one thing. Her husband’s name and address was written on the box. Both of them were feeling very good after doing this cleaning work. After a week, she received a letter from the Municipal Corporation. She thought that she would be praised and appreciated for her work. But it was written in that letter that a fine of Rs 1 lakh was being imposed on her.
Why was the couple fined?
Now you must be wondering why this fine was imposed. Actually, because the name was on the box, it became their property and when they kept it illegally on the side of the road, it was considered illegal dumping. For this reason, a fine of 600 pounds was imposed on them. The surprising thing was that only the husband’s name was on the box, according to this, the fine should have been in his name only, but in the fine that came, the fine was sent separately in the names of both the husband and wife. In this way, a total fine of 1200 pounds (more than 1 lakh rupees) was imposed on them. The couple got a letter signed by the neighbors and sent it to the Municipal Corporation that they had cleaned with everyone’s approval and the fine should be removed from them, but the corporation did not listen to them. Now they are paying the fine every month, in installments. They have now decided that no matter how dirty the road becomes, they will never clean again.
